Five steps to the perfect summer soiree

Throwing the perfect party comes down to six easy steps. From planning to clean-up, read on to make your next party a winner.

Throwing the perfect party comes down to six easy steps. From planning to clean-up, read on to make your next party a winner.

1. Establish the budget and date. Check with the main invitees to ensure they don’t have clashing events and use your budget to set the tone.

2. Choose the venue. Will you throw the party at home? If so, where? How many people do you need to seat and how will they be mingling? Sitting or standing?

3. Put together a schedule. Ensure you leave plenty of time for ordering as well as time to DIY decorations or order seating, tables and other items. This is a great time to chat to florists, caterers and other suppliers so they can also plan to order what they need.

4. Food and Drink. The make or break of every party is the food and drinks. Book your caterers or plan your menu including what you can prepare earlier and make sure you have enough freezer/fridge space for everything. Match drinks to guests and ensure there is a flow (wine with dinner, spirits afterwards and coffee for the late stayers)

5. Entertainment. If you are not booking music or entertainers, think about the music you’ll playing on a speaker. Put together a Spotify playlist that matches the events – perhaps easy listening to start, amping up to some singing bangers as the party gets started. Other entertainment can include jumping castles, arcade games, card games – or perhaps you have a great view of an even. Make sure everyone can see and you plan pauses for things like fireworks or race finales.

Enjoy your party! (And don’t forget to make some clean up plans with family, friends or outside help – no one wants to worry about clean up after a big event so have that all sorted beforehand)
